Day 15 - Las Cruces NM to Tombstone AZ

Those of you with a few years on you will know why we stopped at Tombstone - it's the site of the famous Gunfight at the OK Corral. However we started the day by finishing up our New Mexico segment of the trip. Went north from Las Cruces and headed west on a scenic highway, with roads that called for road signs like the second picture. Kind of reminded me of the road to Fontana. Saw a huge copper mine along the highway (first picture). We stopped at Silver City NM where we walked the streets, shopped at an antique mall, then Dorothy treated me to lunch on my birthday. Headed on down to the interstate and drove into the state of Arizona. We had to drop back one hour because Arizona doesn't do daylight savings time. So now we're the same as Central Daylight time.(Correction: We're now on MST, which is 2 hrs behind CST and 3 hrs behind EST). On the way to Tombstone we passed a paving crew with one of those flashing signs - this one said "Don't turn on asphalt until mean cop says OK". And he was standing right there. We arrived at Tombstone late afternoon in time to case the joint. The last picture is where we ate our evening meal. More on Tombstone tomorrow.
